Theft of construction equipment, machinery and fuel costs the construction industry over £800 million each year.
Additionally, there are over 300 fires on construction sites annually. Many of these fires are accidental and could be prevented with proper fire risk assessments and safety measures.
Luminite offers a range of wireless security and fire solutions aimed at sites where power is often compromised.
Wireless PIR Camera
OCULi can be battery or solar powered and provides rapid visual verification of an event which can be viewed in seconds. Providing a totally off-grid solution, OCULi provide high-definition images with the ability to access real-time images by using the new LIVE STREAMING button via the online portal. Users can also request more footage of an event activation. Also new is the audio function where users can issue a live voice challenge, or an automatic alarm can be set to sound on detection.
There are 2 detection range options – 15 metres out and 20 metres across, or 40 metres out and 4 metres across designed for site entrances and exits.
Working with current security patrols or as a standalone system, alarm events can be viewed within seconds and the appropriate response made. Costs can be saved by ascertaining the cause of the alarm and filtering out non-events meaning personnel do not have to attend unnecessarily. Units can be wall-mounted or affixed to scaffolding.
Wireless PIRs
Portable CCTV towers offer a quick and easily deployable option for construction companies. When fitted with Genesis PIR detectors or OCULi units they provide a robust solution with alarm and tamper relays. Genesis integrates with several security software platforms as well as popular CCTV cameras from Hikvision, Dahua and others.
A battery-powered sounder can also be used as an audible deterrent. These are fitted with an adjustable timer and can work with any alarm product that has volt free contacts. PIR detectors can also be used in conjunction with lighting control on sites at night.
Wireless Fire Alerts
According to the Fire Safety Advice Centre there are 11 fires on construction sites EVERY DAY. Around 40% are started deliberately and in line with HSG168 regulations, all sites must display a visual AND audible alert to fire.
The Alertex wireless fire system has been designed specifically for temporary and evolving sites and complies with HSE Fire Safety Guidelines. Units are quickly deployable around a site and have a robust 1km transmission range between units. Decibel levels can be adjusted to a maximum of 117 dB and are weatherproof to IP66 standard.
The combined Fire / First Aid device is an important new addition to the Alertex range. When the FIRE button is pressed all units in range will activate. When the FIRST AID button is pressed only the activated unit, and a master (normally in the site office) will announce which unit number has been activated so that help can be sent.
Wireless speakers can be used to announce safety messages in various languages and heat and smoke detectors can be added to a system and will activate Alertex units within their 100m range.
Exclusion Zones
Construction sites often need to create temporary exclusion zones as a warning for when an area becomes too dangerous for workers or pedestrians to enter. This can be due to crane activity, moving vehicles, a spillage, workers at height or any other type of hazardous activity.
Alertex units can be quickly deployed around a perimeter to create an exclusion zone. These can be activated via a mobile key fob from 100 metres away and tripods are available for mounting units.
Boundary Shield
Active wireless IR beams can be wall or pole mounted and create an invisible perimeter barrier around a whole site or part of a site where additional security is required, for example, storage areas for flammable material. The beams are fitted with Genesis transmitters and are compatible with all Genesis products. 60m and 100m beams are available with either fixed or adjustable frequency control to avoid cross-talk between beams.
